Johann Georg Albrechtberger was one of the most sought-after tutors in Europe. Haydn remarked that he was 'the best teacher of composition among all present-day Viennese masters’ and Mozart declared in a letter to Constanze that Albrechtberger's organ playing was the standard by which all organ players should be measured. Albrechtberger had the priviledge to tutor (amongst others) J. N. Hummel and Ludvig van Beethoven.
This three-volume collection of his writings was first published in 1826. This CD is from the first English edition published in 1855.
